Mr. Chinnappa is now responsible for Google News relations with news organisations in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He works with news organisations directly to develop of initiatives for cooperation and experimentation between Google and the news industry.
Mr. Chnnappa's previous work experience:
May 2008 – July 2010: Head of Business Development, BBC Journalism
Mr. Chinnappa was responsible for developing and delivering the Syndication strategy with the goal of increasing BBC Journalism’s online reach in the face of the declining audiences on TV and radio.
June 2001 – November 2003: Deputy Head of Rights, BBC News
Focused on developing and managing relations within the news industry.
Developed, and got agreed the EBU News Group’s New Media rules.

June 2000 - June 2001: Group Development Manager
Primary achievement was the successful execution of the sale of the Express Newspaper Group to Northern & Shell for £125million following a strategic review he led.
Associated Press Television (APTV)
September 1994 - June 2000: Various positions at Associated Press Television (APTV) and then Associated Press Television News (APTN) including:
• Deputy Director of Marketing & Development: responsible for client relations and revenue management.
• Part of the Due Diligence team on the merger of WTN and APTV and the subsequent Integration Team that handled the successful creation of the single international multimedia news entity APTN in 1998.
• Asian Editor: responsible for all coverage out of the Asia-Pacific region, experience included such events as the Hong Kong handover and the Afghan civil war.
