Russia Today

RT is a global news channel broadcasting around the world from Moscow and Washington in English, Arabic and Spanish, as well as a video agency and four multimedia portals. In 2010, RT became the first Russian TV channel nominated for a prestigious EMMY International Award in the News category.

With a global reach of 400 million viewers – or 22% of all paid cable networks’ subscribers – RT broadcasts through 19 satellites and more than 200 cable and over-the-air TV providers to a diverse and demanding international audience.

RT launched in 2005, becoming the first Russian round-the-clock English-language news channel. RT's primary mission is to present our global audience with world news from a Russian perspective, and to bring an unbiased portrait of Russia. RT news covers the major political, economic and cultural issues of our time, with supporting analysis and documentaries, for viewers wishing to question more.

Nielsen has found RT’s 2010 daily audience in Washington and New York bigger than that of other major international news channels: Euronews, France 24, Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera English and the English-language Chinese channel CCTV News*. According to Kantar Media research over two million viewers watch RT in the UK, and RT’s average monthly audience is now over 5 times larger than that of the German Deutsche Welle**. In six European countries, including France, Germany and Italy, according to Synovate, more than seven million people watch RT***.
RT’s unique project for media professionals – the online video agency FreeVideo – is a daily updated selection of exclusive Russian and international news stories, interviews and RT programmes in broadcast quality, which can be accessed and downloaded free of charge. Over 5 thousand TV channels and news agencies from 178 countries all over the world have already subscribed and use the service.
The channel's audience on new media platforms is growing rapidly. The best news reports, stories and programmes can be found in the special RT channel on YouTube, where the number of views has already exceeded 450 million. RT is one of the All-Time TOP 100 Most-Viewed Channels on YouTube and, in March 2011, RT became the Most-Viewed All Time This Month YouTube Channel.
RT offers a high-quality streaming internet broadcast at RT.com.
